1981 Walla Walla Padres Retro (Ebbets Field Flannels) - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

Walla, Walla Welcome back to Week Two of the Quarantine Road Trip, folks! Since this whole "Shelter In Place" thing is a new experience for all of us, I decided to break from my usual habit of posting vintage hats in order to focus on retro caps for the next few weeks.

In fact, it was last week's Yakima Bears hat which inspired me to select this Walla Walla Padres retro cap from Ebbets Field Flannels as this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection because like Yakima, Walla Walla Walla is a former Northwest League (NWL) city which currently hosts a collegiate West Coast League (WCL) team called the Walla Walla Sweets.

This "Brown and Yellow" colorblocking is instantly recognizable to OG baseball fans as being distinctively Padres in nature. As an SF Giants fan, it's hard for me to wear a cap with these colors out in public but since we are all under quarantine, all rules have gone bye-bye.

A lot of noise has been made about New Era closing down their last stateside plant in Derby, NY however so it's important to note that Ebbets Field Flannels has never stopped producing Made In U.S.A. caps their entire existence.

I have my doubts that Walla Walla Padres hats ever featured satin green underbrims as shown here. Of course, my preference would be for a matte green or grey underbrim but what's most important is the accuracy of the logo and I think Ebbets nailed it in that regard.

I hope when everything gets back to normal, Ebbets continues to crank out all the retro logos that I've begged them to reproduce ad nauseam over the years as well as those I didn't even know I wanted. In all seriousness, I'm so thankful for their efforts.

In case anyone is listening, the big ones on my wish list are the Peninsula Pilots, Denver Bears and Huntsville Stars from the 1980s as well whatever other treats they feel like producing!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hatson my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
