1948 Knoxville Smokies (Ebbets Field Flannels retro)

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday post might be the last for a little while as I'm about to embark on a busy summer that slated to feature some fun travels as well as a big home improvement project. I don't want to share too many details yet but let's just say the background you see on the Instagram posts will be affected in a major way! Every year on the first Saturday in June, National Black Bear Day is celebrated to recognize the most common bear in the United States. Since tomorrow is the first Saturday in June, the theme for this week's post is going to be ursine-focused with my 1948 Knoxville Smokies retro from Ebbets Field Flannels. Ok, so maybe the logo isn't even ursine-adjacent at all but for me, whenever I think of Knoxville, the first thing that comes to mind is the Smoky Mountains and my next thought after that is of the black bears that live in the park.  Ebbets branding and the Made In U.S.A. pride comprise the magnificent duo of tags seen on almos

1921 New York Giants "Roman Pro Cap Co." Retro

Apologies for taking last week off as a last minute trip came up but hopefully you'll appreciate that I'm back fully-charged this week. I also have a very special cap to share with you good folks as I take time to reflect upon the 20th anniversary commemoration of the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. Selecting a New York Yankees or New York Mets cap might seem like the obvious choice  to honor New York City for this week's  Fresh Fitted Friday  post however I feel a City team needs to be represented. Although the Yankees and the Mets each played a few seasons at the Polo Grounds, the New York Giants are the true inhabitants of that glorious Manhattan stadium.   I'm not exactly certain what year the Roman Pro Cap Co. produced this retro version of the cap the New York Giants wore a century ago but if you'd like to take a general stroll down C ap Memory Lane , I recommending  clicking this link for a timeline of the New York Giants cap h

1947-57 New York Giants

If you checked out last week's inaugural Orange October post, you'll recall I selected a Minneapolis Millers cap in recognition of Minnesota's valiant, albeit unsuccessful efforts in the  Wild Card Series against Houston , who as it turns went on to defeat Oakland in the ALDS just yesterday.  By this time next week, the ALCS will be underway as the Astros will be playing whoever comes out on top in tonight's  winner-take-all ALDS Game 5 between the   Yankees and Rays.  As a New Yorker, I'm really pulling for a pinstripes win here but to tie that in to my allegiance to the Giants, this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is a  1947-57 New York Giants "Roman" retro cap. Most New York Giants retro caps out there feature Mets-like serifs similar to these though my preference would be to have one more like  the cap Bobby Thompson wore  during the "Shot Heart Round the World" game in 1951 as well as this photo from that same year. 1950's New York Baseball Giants (Cooperstown Ballcap Co. Retro) - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

For this week's issue of Fresh Fitted Friday I'm featuring a 1950's New York Giants cap that was produced by Cooperstown Ballcap Co. I chose this  cap because i thought it important to recognize the rich history that the Giants had in New York City.  Doing a little background on the Giants will tell you that the Giants, or rather the Gothams as they were known when they joined the National League in 1883, were the main attraction for many years when it came to baseball in New York. The rivalry that they had with the Brooklyn Dodgers remains as one of the greatest baseball rivalries of all time.  The Giants were dominant in the National League in their early years and achieved more than their fair share of NL pennants. Still though, the New York Yankees winning World Series championships for the American League year after year effectively stole the spotlight from the Giants and the Dodgers. In 1958, both the Giants and the Dodgers moved to San Franc
