1947-57 New York Giants

If you checked out last week's inaugural Orange October post, you'll recall I selected a Minneapolis Millers cap in recognition of Minnesota's valiant, albeit unsuccessful efforts in the Wild Card Series against Houston, who as it turns went on to defeat Oakland in the ALDS just yesterday.

By this time next week, the ALCS will be underway as the Astros will be playing whoever comes out on top in tonight's winner-take-all ALDS Game 5 between the Yankees and Rays. As a New Yorker, I'm really pulling for a pinstripes win here but to tie that in to my allegiance to the Giants, this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is a 1947-57 New York Giants "Roman" retro cap.

Most New York Giants retro caps out there feature Mets-like serifs similar to these though my preference would be to have one more like the cap Bobby Thompson wore during the "Shot Heart Round the World" game in 1951 as well as this photo from that same year.

The leather sweatband is a nice touch and is especially useful to have during the colder months.

Despite my previous nitpicking over the logo's accuracy, this cap prevails over New Era's retro caps typically which feature the unneeded batterman and pesky flag logo stitched on the side.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my
Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
