2018 Música de Memphis (Memphis Redbirds "Copa de la Diversion")

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday takes the posting duties on location to Mexico for the first time ever. To commemorate my very first trip South of the Border, this week's hat is the 2018 "Música de Memphis" hat the Memphis Redbirds wore as part in the inaugural campaign of the Copa de la Diversion in 2018. Memphis only wore this cap for the first two seasons of the Copa campaign but I hope they bring it back in future years because it is such a fun color combination Looking closely at the tag under the sweatband shows that this cap was Made in U.S.A. and besides being a great thing in and of itself, it suggests it was worn during the first Copa season in 2018 because that was the last year New Era produced caps at its plant in Derby, NY I love the festive colors on the MILB batterman ( batterhombre ? bateadorehombre ??) patch here If you're a regular reader of the blog with a decently average memory you know that I was a resident of California during the years i

2017 Memphis Redbirds Road Cap

I've been on a red, white and blue colorway kick here lately and this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is no exception. In addition to displaying national pride, this Memphis Redbirds road cap's logo features an "M" styled like a shape note as a nod to the city's rich musical tradition of blues and rock & roll which frankly, is a cultural contribution that comforts the entire country. As a fan of baseball and music, I was thrilled when Memphis revealed this new logo ahead of the 2017 season because it felt like my worlds were colliding in the best possible way. I loved the logo even more when I learned that the incorporation of musical notes in the logo was actually a return of sorts to the design elements used by the Memphis Blues from 1968-76. Standard sweatband tags that we've been seeing on caps the past few years here. Moving right along! Classic red, white and blue batterman will always look great on a navy ballcap such as this one. As is

2007 Memphis Redbirds - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

As I sit here writing this week's post on All Hallow's Eve, I'm contemplating how superstitious I can be when it comes to baseball. It's an unwritten rule that you don't acknowledge a no-hitter as it's happening and I think that factored in me not discussing my desire for the Washington Nationals to win the World Series in last week's post.  I realize that sounds like I sincerely believed some form of Murphy's Law would occur but I think it had more to do with the fact that a t that point, the Nationals had won two games against the Astros and I didn't want to pile on too much since they were coasting along. I also didn't want to rub any salt in the wounds of my Yankees Empire friends! My only horse in the American League was the Yankees so once my current hometown team was eliminated, I simply hitched my wagon to the Nationals. On the topic of wagons, here's an article on John Loughney, who is better known as the "Since Today"
