2017 Memphis Redbirds Road Cap

I've been on a red, white and blue colorway kick here lately and this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is no exception. In addition to displaying national pride, this Memphis Redbirds road cap's logo features an "M" styled like a shape note as a nod to the city's rich musical tradition of blues and rock & roll which frankly, is a cultural contribution that comforts the entire country.

As a fan of baseball and music, I was thrilled when Memphis revealed this new logo ahead of the 2017 season because it felt like my worlds were colliding in the best possible way. I loved the logo even more when I learned that the incorporation of musical notes in the logo was actually a return of sorts to the design elements used by the Memphis Blues from 1968-76.

Standard sweatband tags that we've been seeing on caps the past few years here. Moving right along!
Classic red, white and blue batterman will always look great on a navy ballcap such as this one.

As is often times the case with my cap selections, I have an ulterior motive for sharing this particular cap at this specific time and that reason is today (August 20, 2021) is National Radio Day which means a music-themed cap just had to make an appearance this week.

Unlike some inventions, it took many years of contributions from around the world to bring us what we know and love today as radio so I recommend checking out the National Radio Day entry at the National Day Calendar site to learn up on the history of this vital aspect of our lives.

Before signing off, I wanted to point out that this logo is a Studio Simon creation and it really makes me dig that firm even more than I already did. Their designs have this incredible ability to be subtle yet also hit home rather effectively. I don't show enough love to the Louisville-based agency and I think that should change in the coming months so stay tuned!

See what i did there?

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
