1959 Buffalo Bisons (Ebbets Field Flannels retro)

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is a retro production of a 1959 Buffalo Bisons cap and let me tell y'all, in an alternate timeline this hat would be taking us into a Super Bowl weekend where the Buffalo Bills would be playing in the big game for the first time since 1994!

Well, if "if's" and "but's" were candy and nuts that would be friggin' awesome because that would mean my plan of featuring Buffalo hats up through the Super Bowl came together. But it didn't. But that doesn't matter because this logo's simplicity is just too perfect to pass up this week.

I can't imagine anyone on the street will recognize this logo for what it is but that's ok. Maybe I'll hear "Boston Sucks" or perhaps someone will think it's a Birmingham Barons cap. Whatever happens, I'm ready for it because I will hit them with the story behind this hat no matter what!

Made in U.S.A. is something Ebbets Field Flannels has been proudly saying since 1988. I wish the same claim could be made by their Buffalo-based counterparts, New Era however I'll get to that topic soon.

If the light hits this hat the right way, you can tell how really nice and dark the navy blue wool is here. Again, the quality that Ebbets Field Flannels puts out is a delight to own so hopefully you've got plenty of these American-made classics in your cap collection like I do.

I mentioned in the captions above that New Era has stopped producing caps in the U.S. and sadly, I don't foresee them changing course on that decision any time soon. What's really alarming though is that the price on their foreign-made product seems to increase with each passing year. This would be fine if the quality kept improving, however the opposite is true.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but as someone who gets a kick out of irony, I couldn't close this post out without remarking that the year Buffalo wore this cap was '59 and the cap style that made New Era famous is the 59Fifty!

All this talk of Ebbets and New Era really has me looking forward to the next batch of caps from Ebbets. They usually come out around this time of the year once their big annual clearance sale wraps up. I've missed out on a couple of recent releases that I really liked because I was trying to wait to put in a big order but I guarantee that will not be happening again this time!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
