The great thing about being a cap collector is that laying eyes on fresh new logos is as exciting as the classics that got you into the hobby which will always resonate with you. That's why after all these years, the logo the Cedar Rapids Kernels wore on their caps from 1993 - 2006 is as exciting to me now as always.

| The Cedar Rapids Reds became the Kernels when the Minnesota Twins became their parent club in 1993 and even though the logo doesn't have the cartoonistic Poochie Effect that other teams began to employ in the mid-1990s, this cornball has a lot going for it. |

I put the "Favorites" label on this post as well as the 1993-99 Cedar Rapids Kernels DeLong snapback that I wrote about on June 07, 2019. Back then I wasn't selecting caps for my Fresh Fitted Friday posts based on the National Holiday calendar dates as much as I do now which makes all the more special that that these entries are 208 weeks apart!
It might seem corny to you but the fact that I unknowingly wrote about a snapback featuring this cap logo on the Friday before National Corn on the Cob Day—just as I am knowingly doing so now—speaks to the power corn maintains over my mind. I've run out of corn-themed caps and I'm hoping a new one comes out soon so that I can uphold the tradition once again!
