Vermont Expos - New Era Buffalo Exclusive

The Vermont Expos hat I picked for this week's Fresh Fitted Friday post builds on last week's themes of Vermont, Phish and the Expos affiliates and its one that I do not anticipate seeing anyone else wearing around any time soon as it is part of a limited production run of "fantasy" caps from @djmach716 of New Era shop in Buffalo, NY.

Fantasy logos is breathe new life into classic designs and I'm excited for this being the first of such hats that I've picked up from DJ via an assist from my friend @yellowsub73. There's a few more that I'm looking to scoop up but of course just to be on safe side, I am holding off on specifying which ones until that moment that I have actually procured them.

As a native Virginian, I tend to gravitate caps with logos featuring the letter "V" and even though I know this one is not for my home state. The only thing that I don't love here is the red stitching on the white panels but I've used my seam-ripper here to fix that situation.

The pinwheel crown is a must-have on an Expos cap, especially in this case as the Vermont Expos never fully committed to that design element during their years as a Montreal affiliate.

I'm not crazy about the thick white stitching here but I imagine getting a thinner and more clear type of thread can't be easy. Either way, I'm really happy with the way this turned out and I will not be breaking out the seam-ripper on any more panels of this cap!

The inspiration for this week's cap is the design seen on this Greg Bunn card from 2004. Something I didn't notice until I got my cap is that if you flip the cap (or in this case, the card) upside down it very closely resembles the "eMb" on Montreal's cap.

I stated earlier that this Vermont Expos hat is a continued expression of appreciation for Phish's historic seven night run at Madison Square Garden and I'm happy to say I've worn this hat for all five of the shows that I've attended thus far and am looking forward to wearing it to the remaining two shows which are tonight and tomorrow.

A fair amount of people have stopped me in the concourse to ask me "what team is that hat" and time-permitting, I like to launch into the whole story as well as letting them know about this here blog! I hope to get a few more readers out of my evangelism so we shall see!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
