Twin Falls Cowboys (Ebbets Field Flannels)

Last week I goofed-up National Citrus Day by celebrating a Florida team despite that holiday being started by a citrus producer in California so it only makes sense that I would find a way to put my own unique spin on International Women's Day by writing about the 1947 Twin Falls Cowboys cap I recently picked up from Ebbets Field Flannels.

Anytime I browse the Ebbets Field Flannels site and see a former minor league cap with beautiful serifs embroidered, I have to go for it as many of their recent offerings have skewed toward college and Negro League teams featuring felt letters and patches.

Made in U.S.A. quality every single time!

Popping the tag on an Ebbets cap is always fun for me and I love using the little tags as bookmarks.

Before I go into why a Cowboys hat is the Fresh Fitted Friday selection on a post highlighting a holiday for women, I first want to share with you that according to this page from census.govInternational Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 to honor the date "hundreds of women from New York City garment and textile factories rallied to protest harsh working conditions."

It took reading that to remember that I had photographed this Cowboys hat next to a special beer from female-owned Talea Beer Company (which also happens to be based here in New York City) that I picked up from my local bottle shop for the exact purpose of posting on my Instagram feed because the lettering on the cap aligned beautifully with the can's label.

In retrospect, the Lowell Spinners cap from a few weeks back could have been a good fit considering how textile factories figure into this week's holiday however this Twin Falls cap also makes sense with March 4 being Idaho Day in commemoration of the Territory of Idaho becoming officially recognized by Act of Congress on March 3, 1863.

The rugged landscape of Idaho might not evoke thoughts of what most typically associate with  femininity so I was pleasantly suprised to learn from visitsouthidaho.com about the Twins Statue which represents "angels or guardians of the surrounding landscape" and is located by Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
