Golden Sombrero (The Clink Room)

The 2026 Major League Baseball season is full swing and sadly in their first game of the year, my San Francisco Giants fell to the New York Yankees by a score of 7-0. At least the box score provided a bit of comic relief as it was the first time a reigning MVP gathered four strikeouts on Opening Day so all thanks are due to Aaron Judge for recording this most historic Golden Sombrero ever!

And as a statistics enthusiast, I appreciate the significance of being in attendance the last time Judge wore the Platinum Sombrero wherein one of those five strike outs he suffered was at the hands of Paul Skenes during his first ever start at Yankee Stadium on September 28, 2024.

I was disappointed Skenes got pulled after two innings of scoreless ball but one could witness something far less spectacular in New York! While I was not at CitiField today to see Skenes make his first start of this season as he took on the New York Mets, those who were saw even less of him because he was pulled after recording only two outs in the first inning of the game.

It should go without saying Skenes has a Hall of Fame career ahead of him and even more immediately, another shot at the Cy Young award this year so I have no worries about him or Judge, whose poor performance on Opening Night was surely an outlier as I have no doubt he's got another few MVP-caliber seasons left in his tank. Until then, let's celebrate the defeats!

I would have loved this logo even more if it had a ball blowing past the batter but what would make the design pop even more is if the front two panels were both white.

The gold Clink Kong embroidery against the matching undervisor make this one an instant regal classic!

A better look at the gold undervisor here to give good vibes to Skenes finding his groove in 2026 while wearing the black and gold and for Judge finally getting to wear a jersey adorned in gold after finally winning his first World Series with the Yankees.

The designers who contribute to The Clink Room consistently turn out quality work so shout out to Big Flyz whose work you can check out on Instagram as well as Wynne Studio who I have featured here before and can also be found on Instagram.
