My Friend, My Friend - "Knife" (Phish x Madison Square Garden)

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday post marks the second snapback I've written about this year and while that has been the average amount recently, looking back at years like 2015 and 2017 give a good glimpse into the kind of attention I have given to snaps previously. In retrospect, I could have also waited until tomorrow to share photos of this hat for a Snapback Saturday post!

Being retrospective is actually a driving force in selecting this particular snapback this week and folks who dig deep into the archives also know that I have mentioned on multiple occasions that Phish is my favorite band and has been the inspiration for quite a few posts.

A bit of reverence for the past is the reason Phish turned back the clock to 1992 with the song selection during the first night of its current Madison Square Garden residency for their 92nd show at the legendary venue. Correlating the songs chosen for their setlists with songs that were commonly played that year is a sure fire way to get diehards raring and ready for the shows.

Another effect of Phish celebrating the lead up of reaching the milestone of playing 100 shows at MSG is fans are buying extensive amounts of merch. My first purchase is a 1990s-coded snapback from a vendor booth at the Garden and I am certain there will be pick-ups of additional items throughout the run as well as from the online store when they release there eventually.

As a New York Knicks fan, I have not held back on buying gear commemorating the incredible achievements of the 2026 NBA champions. I also place zero restrictions on myself regarding Phish merch where Knicks typeface is used such as here with it being used to spell out "Knife" as it is part of the chorus in "My Friend, My Friend" which is a song they debuted in 1992.

Seeing my favorite band in the holiest of all basketball arenas is something I will never take for granted, especially when they are firing on all cylinders as it appears they will continue to do for the entire run.

Sneaky little Phish logo on the snap closure for those eagle-eyed fans of the band to spot each other out in the wild.

Even though I am now expecting songs that were regularly played in 1993 to comprise tonight's show, there are about a hundred tunes that they have to choose from. And if it turns out there's around a hundred items at the Phish merch booth that references the Knicks, I will then have no choice but to say "yes" to all of them because, Phish in Five and Knicks in Five!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
