2016 Buffalo Bills "Sideline" Cap

Welcome to the second consecutive Fresh Fitted Friday of the new year, folks! For those counting at home, today's entry makes me 2-for-2 for posts in 2021 which, in my opinion, is quite the way to start off the year.

Last week's post was a bit subdued so I hope your tolerance for braggadocio is high because I've got some big news to boast about: this here blog will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this coming August!

A decade is a long time to be consistently doing the same thing. I suppose the blog's longevity can be attributed to a few different components with the first being that I own an absurd amount of hats. More importantly, I enjoy writing about them and I'm glad to have this fun hobby on top of a hobby that's already loads of fun for me.

While thinking about this milestone a bit this week, I revisited all of my posts going back to the beginning and noticed that I’d never once written about an NFL team's hat. To be fair, that isn't surprising because I'm not much of a football fan but I do have a handful of NFL caps.

One would think that in ten years I would have put the spotlight on at least one of them. Well, that all changes today as this 2016 Buffalo Bills "Sideline" cap gets the very special distinction of being the first-ever NFL cap to be featured on the blog.

This logo is as wild and untamed as a cap depicting a Buffalo could ever hope to be. I love it.

This red underbrim is dynamite and was definitely a big factor in purchasing this hat.

The NFL Shield logo is pretty cool but can it really hold a candle to MLB's batterman logo?

The term “out with the old, in with the new” is oft-used at this early stage in the new year and I can't think of better way to celebrate that sentiment than with perhaps a little of both? The "new" in this case is the New Era (sorry, couldn't help it) of prosperity that the Bills organization and its fans are feeling as it has won the AFC East for the first time since 1995.

The old is that inexplicable feeling you have when you realize that as time moves forward, one's sense of "the past" continues to grow and no matter what you do, it's just this big mass that keeps getting bigger. Whoa sorry for getting heavy there. My focus on the "old" should have just been on the fact that this cap is from a wretched year like 2016.

I'll always consider 2016 to be the year that things started to go downhill for so many people in the world, and the United States specifically, but I really do believe that we are ready to turn the corner as this new year continues to develop. Let's keep that hope alive, why don't we?

I mentioned earlier that football isn't really my thing but nevertheless as a New York resident, I am compelled to cheer on the only team that plays in my state. My biggest reason to root for the Bills though is that my wife's family is from Buffalo. Also, I attended the University of Colorado and our moniker is the Buffaloes so naturally, I feel at home rooting for this team.

I'll be wearing this hat as the Bills play their first game of the 2020 playoffs tomorrow and if all goes well, I've got more Buffalo goodness on the horizon to share with y'all in hopes of maintaining their mojo all the way to the Super Bowl.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
