Puerto Rico Marlins (1961 Ebbets Field Flannels Retro)

It has been less than two weeks since the 2025 World Series wrapped up but thanks to the plentiful slate of highlights and full game broadcasts from the winter baseball leagues as well as  the Arizona Fall League, any withdrawal symptoms I would otherwise experience at this point in the year have been subsided.

Even better is despite this weekend's temperatures only looking to get up to the high 40s, the heat will be brought courtesy of the "RD Vs. PR Showdown" as All-Stars from Liga Dominicana de Béisbol (Dominican Republic) and Liga Beisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (Puerto Rico) square off in a historic match-up at CitiField tomorrow in Queens.

The Dominican roster features former Met (and Yankee) Robinson Cano in his last professional game but I'm most excited for Puerto Rico's squad because I'll get to see Vimael Machín who was on the Norfolk Tides the last time I saw him play. He signed autographs for my niece after that game so I'll be rooting for this player to succeed any chance I get.

The cap I selected for this week's Fresh Fitted Friday and plan to wear to the game to cheer on Puerto Rico is a retro of the one worn by the Puerto Rico Marlins for their lone season in 1961. And while its colorway is Mets-centric, there was no connection between that team and the Metropolitans whose inaugural season would happen to be the following year.

I'm not expecting any hat nerds to give me props for breaking out such a fitting cap to the game however if I do receive any such comments I'll make sure to direct them to this write-up as well as the 1957 Miami Marlins post in which I discussed how that team would eventually pack up its bags to become the Puerto Rico Marlins in 1961.

Popping the tag on this lovely cap for the right reason tomorrow!

The lighting here makes this crown seem a bit brighter than it actually is, to my eyes at least, however I hope that after a few years of wear the color will dull out a bit.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. If you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
