New York Mets (Home Run Chrome Two Tone)

The free agency hot stove reached its boiling point in the past week or so with announcements of Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, Bo Bichette, and Cody Bellinger finally signing contracts with teams ahead of next season. We are a few weeks away from pitchers and catchers arriving at Spring Training, so hopefully, your team has made moves to give you hope going into 2026!

My San Francisco Giants have not made any significant roster moves, but I sense Tony Vitello will be impactful as our skipper, and I am not giving up on us making a play for Framber Valdez, as the teams closely linked to him besides us are the Orioles, Cubs, and Mets. Each of those teams has made a big splash either through free agency or trades, so I'm keeping the faith.

As a New Yorker, I am happy for Bellinger's return to the Bronx and even happier for Bichette coming to America (ie. Queens), which, combined with the news of Carlos Beltran being voted into the Hall of Fame earlier this week, serves as the inspiration for this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection.

I felt conflicted last year when the Mets dropped their latest Spring Training cap logo design because I instantly wanted that hat while at the same time, I harbored an irrational sense of potential stolen valor for knowing I would not actually attend a Grapefruit League game that year.

This week's cap makes it the sixth one from Topperzstore that I have featured here. Like all the others, it has the obligatory side patch which I do not mind as it cements this being a "New York" hat, as opposed to one with a Florida state of mind.

Ho-Ho-Home Runs totals at CitiField in 2026 will likely not exceed the 2025 count but that's ok because hopefully the Mets can win some games without relying on a string of meaningless long balls this year!

There is no guarantee for keeping a cap with a cream crown as clean as it could possibly be, but the black sweatband and green undervisor are a big help rather than the respective white and grey options.

I will be sure to discuss Hall of Fame elections of Beltran and Andruw Jones in future posts, but for now my main focus is looking forward to Spring Training as well as wishing for warmer temperatures here in New York. I thank you for your patience on that front and am hereby advising you to expect next week's post to also be (somewhat) related to Spring Training!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. If you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
