We are going port-to-port for this week's Fresh Fitted Friday as we set sail from the Portland Beavers to the cap worn by the Stockton Ports for their "Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond" games. The logo on this cap also just happens to be the perfect way to honor International Workers’ Day, which is celebrated around the world today and every year on May 1.
| The stevedore grasping this huge asparagus spear is a reimagining of "5 O'Clock Dock" identity designed by Brandiose for the Ports ahead of the 2013 season. I love the original but the menacing look on this version as he holds the asparagus like a bat is top-notch. |
| So many sweatband tags! |
I want to close this post out by saying that Stockton's unique desire to highlight asparagus in this cap logo prompted me to learn a bit more on the topic. While more is not necessarily better, it turns out Washington State actually grows more asparagus, while the "Asparagus Capital of the World" is purported to be in Oceana County, Michigan.
I am not sure if I'll pick up the standard "5 O'Clock Dock" cap now that I have this Marvel version; however, if they rework him to incorporate more of a baseball feel, I would be intrigued. I would like to set a goal for myself to have an asparagus-related cap to write about when National Asparagus Day falls on a Friday, which is set to happen next in 2030!
This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
