1951 Ottawa Giants (V2 - Ebbets Field Flannels)

The San Francisco Giants have just pulled into New York and I am currently feeling the jitters of seeing my team play in person for the first time this year as they are about to start a three game series against the New York Mets at CitiField. I always have a hard time settling on what Giants hat to wear at away games but this time I have it figured out!

I went a little long on my 5/10 post highlighting my 1950 Oakland Oaks from Ebbets Field Flannels so I do not feel too bad about not having much commentary this week other than I am happy to keep the "O" party going with a 1951 Ottawa Giants hat that I recently picked up from Ebbets as well.

The Ottawa Giants moved there from Jersey City after the 1950 season because the local television broadcasts of the New York Giants obliterated the "Little Giants" attendance at Roosevelt Stadium. Sadly, the Giants relationship only lasted for only one season as the team became affiliated with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1952.

I can't wait for this brim to get nice and dark as it breaks in.

I really need to find a good use for all these little hang tags!
This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is currently available on the Ebbets site however please note that in relation to the cap in hand, the serifs are a lot sharper on the stock image on the product listing for this item.

When I first received the cap, I thought that Ebbets might have mistakenly sent me the one worn by the 1959 Oklahoma State Cowboys the year they became NCAA College World Series Champions. After doing some digging that suspicion faded as I realized the Cowboys had a felt logo rather than the beautiful embroidery featured on this cap from Ebbets.

For those wondering, I am featuring the V2 first as it is currently for sale on Ebbets site however I do plan on writing about the V1 someday soon. And for those interested in a quick differentiation between the two, I'd say the rounded serifs on this V2 resembles the 1983-93 San Francisco Giants logo while the V1 serifs are more angular like the current Giants cap.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
