2017 Memphis Redbirds Road Cap

I've been on a red, white and blue colorway kick here lately and this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is no exception. In addition to displaying national pride, this Memphis Redbirds road cap's logo features an "M" styled like a shape note as a nod to the city's rich musical tradition of blues and rock & roll which frankly, is a cultural contribution that comforts the entire country. As a fan of baseball and music, I was thrilled when Memphis revealed this new logo ahead of the 2017 season because it felt like my worlds were colliding in the best possible way. I loved the logo even more when I learned that the incorporation of musical notes in the logo was actually a return of sorts to the design elements used by the Memphis Blues from 1968-76. Standard sweatband tags that we've been seeing on caps the past few years here. Moving right along! Classic red, white and blue batterman will always look great on a navy ballcap such as this one. As is

1999-2001 New Jersey Cardinals - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

The landing gear is about to come down on the New York-Penn league festivities and I'm making sure the last few Fresh Fitted Friday selections are super special, starting with this week's New Jersey Cardinals cap that I believe to be from 1999 to 2001. The New Jersey Cardinals played in the NYPL from 1994 (in which they won the League Title) through 2005 and wore this cap logo for parts of the 1997 season and then all the way through their final season. I've identified the sweatband tags as being similar to ones I've seen on the following caps from 1999-2001: Augusta GreenJackets, Harrisburg Senators and Trenton Thunder. Second week in a row with a cap featuring a bred MILB batterman! Also of note is all of the aforementioned caps also feature "The Nation's Highest Quality Fitted Cap" verbiage on the satin taping inside the crown. The 12 seasons the Cardinals played in Augusta, NJ isn't long when compared to stalwart cities of the l

2006 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Cap - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

The second cap in The Great eBay Haul is another one I'm not going to be able to wear. As a  fan of the San Francisco Giants  it would be reprehensible for me to wear a St. Louis Cardinals cap.   I do have some caps of Cardinals minor league affiliates but wearing the hat of such a  historical National League rival would be gauche; besides this one's  size is 7 1/4 which is too small for me! The hat's crown and brim are red and I try to avoid the all-red look which is another reason I won't be able to rock this one. Wool caps with white sweatbands and grey underbrims went away in 2007 however some Tigers players wore prototypes of the polyester caps with black sweatbands and underbrims in the 2006 World Series. The satin taping with the "Originators of the True Fitted" and "New Era Fits" slogans came about in 2005, as did the "Blue Box" sweatband tags.  Even though this cap isn't my size, I like having ones from t

2014 Springfield Cardinals Diamond Era - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

This week’s Fresh Fitted is a 2014 Springfield Cardinals Diamond Era cap. This cap was sent to me as a bonus (accidentally?) on one of my recent binge orders and I’m happy they sent it because it’s the first Diamond Era cap in my collection. I really enjoy wearing the older “batting practice” caps when partaking in activities (aka exercising, blech!) that require breathable headwear so I think this one should be no different. The only problem is that there are lots of Cardinals fans out there and it would be awkward if someone said to me “Go Cards!”and I replied with “Go Giants!” or I could just yell back, "This is an Angry Birds hat, man!" but maybe saying nothing would be worse! I’m also not too big on red-colored caps but I do feel some security in knowing that on-coming traffic will have an easier time seeing me as opposed to if I was wearing my black San Francisco Giants batting practice cap. One thing that’s bugging me though is that I’m not sure
