1993-94 Nashville Xpress - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday post marks the sixth time that I've written about a cap worn by a minor league team from Nashville,TN. That might seem rather trivial however I assure you it's not as all the other posts were of Nashville Sounds caps while this week's topic is the Southern League's Nashville Xpress, who only existed from 1993 through 1994.

The first initial in my name is "N" so of course that and the music themed nature of the Sounds logos over the years leads me to appreciate their designs greatly. But in addition to being a big fan of music, I also love traveling by rail which is why I decided to feature this Nashville Xpress cap today in celebration of tomorrow being National Train Day.

The inspiration behind the team name Xpress comes from the existence of train tracks just outside Herschel Greer Stadium which was the ballpark the team shared with their more established counterparts, the Sounds.

The New Era brand tag here looks like ones featured on caps from 1992 (and prior) but my guess is that the more "permanent" teams got the newer "59Fifty" tags and while older materials went to clubs that were meant to be ephemeral such as the Xpress.

Again, no batterman here makes sense because of the older stock materials used for this cap.

I tried as I could to find a household name of an Xpress player from 1993 or 1994, but to no avail. The next best thing was to find the cap being worn by a player who I had written about in a previous post. The winner of that distinction is Brian Raabe whose card I showcased in my 1990 Miami Miracle post which at the time I thought was post for the 1992 Fort Myers Miracle.

I appreciate how even though the Nashville Xpress only existed for two years, they adopted the pinstripes into their uniforms as a nod to the Minnesota Twins who were their parent club for both of those seasons.

Even though I was incorrect in my assertion that the cap was from Fort Myers 1992 season, I was happy to be set straight by
@xclickaroox during a conversation on Instagram. I'm lucky to have met lots of cap collectors such as him and I'm definitely looking forward to continuing the engagement with you good folks so please do reach out on Instagram.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
