1993 Sioux Falls Canaries - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

Before I get carried away with anything else, I am compelled to beg forgiveness in regards to last week's truancy. If you are a regular reader of this blog it is likely because I'm a regular poster so please know that is not a miss that I'd like to repeat again.

Perhaps a gap in posts was not such a bad idea as there is no clear segue from a collegiate summer league team whose moniker is a tarp skunk. In truth, the only thing to do is to feature a cap from another team that is not affiliated with Major League Baseball so this week's hat is the one worn by the 1994 Sioux Falls Canaries of the Northern League.

In some world it makes complete sense to docile canary from a fearsome skunk and that world is here. According to the images I've seen of players, the team only wore this cap logo in 1994, which was their second season in the league.

Any reader who has spent some time around here knows my favorite New Era tags are the ones from the mid-1990's.

I'm taken by the Northern League rear patch and not just because "N" is my first initial. The logo is understated yet sleek and most importantly, the it is now considered to be vintage hasn't been featured on a cap since the league folded in 2010.

The Canaries logo from their inaugural season in 1993 is reminiscent of the old San Francisco Seals insignia so of course I have to feature former Dodgers masher, Pedro Guerrero sporting the cap.

And just for reference, you will see former SF Giants prospect Adell Davenport wearing the feathery logo that the Canaries wore in 1995.
I'll always remember Davenport as a Giants hopeful so I feel compelled to share this image of him wearing the Phoenix Giants throwback uniform as a member of the Phoenix Firebirds in 1993.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
