1977-78 Tucson Toros Retro - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

Editors note: Whoopsie, forgot to publish this last week! Enjoy.

This week's Tucson Toros retro from Ebbets Field Flannels is the last vintage/retro style Pacific Coast League hat from my collection that I've got to share with y'all for the time being so I hope you enjoy the nostalgia before it's gone. Sorry, I shouldn't have gone there.

Well maybe I should have because my love for baseball was born in the 1980s so of course I mostly remember the Toros as a Houston Astros affiliate who wore a garish red cap like last week's Albuquerque Dukes cap.

I've written about the lurid cap the Toros wore during that era however this week's hat features the design the team wore for the 1977 and 1978 seasons when they were the top farm club for the Texas Rangers.

July 4th Weekend is as good a time as any to take a moment to remind everyone how important Ebbets Field Flannels is to baseball fans who appreciate quality caps that are Made in U.S.A.

It's always welcome when Ebbets gives the classic 1980s caps the retro treatment and I especially dig the way they did the crown and brim for this cap which is part of a collection they released through Lids back in 2017.

I'd like to close out this week's post by sharing some images of cards featuring former Toros players with fun names wearing this week's design, albeit on mesh hats. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if those were the caps the team wore during games. I've been to Tucson and that place gets really hot!

I had to include this card for a few reasons. First, the guy's name is Buster Keeton. How great is that? Also, much respect for the Toros going with the Taco Bell style cap in 1983 rather than the pillbox which was de rigueur that year.
This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
