I've got another old-fangled cap for this week's edition of Fresh Fitted Friday but please note this High Desert Mavericks post is actually evocative in multiple regards. The first is in the traditional sense as this week's hat is almost thirty years old however the second aspect has more to do with metaphotographical attributes since the photos themselves are almost seven years old!
|As a San Francisco Giants fan, Bruce Bochy's career path is of great interest to me so I'd like to highlight the fact that the future Hall-Of-Fame manager was at the helm during the Mavericks' inaugural season in 1991. This was Bochy's third managerial assignment but his first was one I discussed in a Spokane Indians post back in 2013, which coincidentally was right around the time I snapped the photos of this week's hat!|
|The Mavericks wore this cap logo from 1991 all the way through the team's last season in 2016 however it was mainly used batting helmets after 2013. This makes it difficult to assign it a certain year although the sweatband tags and lack of MILB batterman align it with ones I've determined to be from 1992-93: Carolina Mudcats, Quad City River Bandits, Orlando Sun Rays, and the aforementioned Spokane Indians cap.|
This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery.
