Acapulco Gold "Red G" - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

I mentioned in the previous Fresh Fitted Friday post that I'd be taking a little break from the blog and while my intent was to take a longer respite for most of the summer, I had to make a quick return for a special post as a shout out to my sister who is celebrating a birthday today.

Ask anyone who has had a sibling in their life about the bond they share with that person and they will tell you that their relationship is unlike any other one that they have ever known. As we grow older our recollections become fuzzier but no matter how much time passes, each of us has touchstone memories that define our childhood.

One of the most lasting experiences like that for me was when I was just over four years old and my parents showed me a gold necklace with a letter "G" pendant for my sister Gabrielle who had just been born. From that point on, whenever I look upon any design featuring that initial, my heart is instantly warmed as I think of my sister.

I was visiting Boston for the first time ten years ago— which coincidentally was around the time of her birthday—and I remember going into a clothing store called Bodega whose goods on display were so thoughtfully laid about the shop. I was also very impressed with the attention to detail on the mock storefront that passersby see while strolling along the street.

The most striking item I saw that day was a navy blue cap with a red "G" featuring serifs reminiscent of the San Francisco Giants which I had no choice but to purchase. Of course, the Giants are another integral force in my life whose name begins with a "G" so I love that it's extra meaningful to me whenever I wear this week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection.

In addition to my sister and favorite baseball team, I also think of my wife whenever I put this cap on because "G" is the first initial of her maiden name

The outside of the cap is in excellent condition but sometimes the insides get worn out no matter how much care you take. To that point, I figured it would be interesting to share a photo taken when I first got this cap in 2012. The quality of my phone's camera was really good at the time but just can't compare to what's possible today.

Another vintage shot for y'all to showcase the embroidery on the rear of the cap because the white border around it has gotten a little murky over the years as well.

Another significant element regarding the origin story of this cap and the timing on this post is that the Golden State Warriors just triumphed over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals last night. I've lived in New York for just over 12 years now so watching Boston lose in key sporting matches is a key component of me being a sports fan in this city.

I'll always be a Bay Area guy so if a New York team isn't the one crushing Boston's dreams I'm happy to see San Francisco getting the job done. Conversely, if a New York team is ever up against Los Angeles, it feels good to have my new hometown take on that "Beat LA" mentality.

I don't expect to post for another few weeks at least but I'll try to share some photos of caps I've already featured here on Instagram now and again so keep an eye out for those if you follow me there. Until then, I hope everyone has a great summer and stays safe and healthy out there!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
