2019 All-Star Game "All-Star Futures"

After tending to other responsibilities the past few weeks, I'm happy to come back to this blog with the League Championship Series in full-swing. I'm sad the Mets were eliminated as I was hoping for my first Subway Series as a New Yorker but at least the Yankees are in there competing, especially against a team as divisive as the Houston Astros.

I had some fun "underdog" hats lined-up in the event of a Seattle-Cleveland series but unlike the NLDS upsets that occurred last week to determine who would compete in the NLCS, the two AL teams with the best records are facing off to determine the winner of their pennant.

I'll save my NL underdog hat for next week but I'm going according to plan this time around as today's date is October 21 which means it's Back to the Future Day and thus the perfect opportunity to highlight the "All-Star Futures" hat worn during the premier showcase event played in conjunction with the 2019 All-Star Game that was held in Cleveland.

My first name beginning with an "N" means I'm obligated to pickup all of the National League caps from All-Star games which contain this letter in the logo.

The corporate branding is minimal on this side patch so I'm going to let it slide because the cap features the stars and piping similar to the regular 2019 All-Star Game cap. Sadly it is missing the nod to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that the MLB version included by incorporating a guitar in its logo.

The piping here is a welcome touch and remains unique as long as it's used sparingly which has been the case so far.

Nothing special about the innards here but I had to share them with you good folks for the sake of completeness.

As would be expected from an exhibition game featuring the "stars of tomorrow", both of this year's NLCS rosters feature a player who from the 2019 game as Alec Bohm and Adrian Morejon represented the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, respectively.

The 2019 contest was the first which pitted AL prospects against their NL counterparts while the previous format featured heralded American prospects against ones from around the world. Notably Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez was on the World team's roster in 2017 and 2018 representing his native country of Cuba.

Having spent the summers of my formative years at a minor league ballpark I have a deep appreciation for watching talented young players trying to make their mark among a sea of others all trying to accomplish the same. Most do not succeed but watching the ones who do come up big in the future makes the whole experience extra gratifying.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
