2020 Clearwater Threshers Alternate (Shark Awareness Day) - Fresh Fitted Friday!!!!

I have written about many cities who have hosted teams for mulitple decades but today's Clearwater Threshers hat marks the first time that I've featured this longtime Philadelphia Phillies farm club, which has been their Single-A affiliate in the Florida State League since 1985.

I alluded to wanting a Threshers cap in my Rancho Cucamonga Temblores post in September 2020 but I made sure not to specify which one exactly because I knew even back then how special this cap was. I wasn't about to ruin my chances at getting it by blabbing about it then but now that I actually it own the time is right to spread the word!

It is surprising how much I like this cap because despite being hopelessly anamored with the ocean, I am irrationally averse to sharks. I grew up up near a beach and remember the terror I felt when while swimming in the ocean I would randomly think of the tiny possibility of that a shark was nearby. Well, today is Shark Awareness Day so I figure it is time to face my fear!

A bite similar to what we see on the "C" here could just as well have been a chunk taken out of my leg by a shark when I was a youth swimming in the ocean but I still think this cap is cool.

I purchased this cap over the phone from a salesperson at the Clearwater Threshers team store who took extra special care to ensure that the hat I was purchasing was of the "Made In USA" variety.

That tag is firmly sewn into the sweatband as you can see however I believe there is no need for me to use my Jaws seam-ripper to detach it from its current state. By the way, here's the link to my favorite clip from the movie.

For me, any Phillies-adjecent cap with the baby blue is something I instantly think is cool.

The colors and quality of the embroidery on the Made in U.S.A. cap on the left are more well-defined in the American-made cap than its Bengali counterpart. And if you look closeley at where the visor meets the crown on the Bengali cap, the panels are sewn together smoothly which actually makes it more rigid if you're wearing it.

The material on the rear panels of the Made in U.S.A. cap on the left are softer than the one from Bangladesh which is more stiff overall. Of course that's not decipherable from the image above however the differences between the MILB batterman embroidery is clearly visible.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
