Ok, that's it. I don't have any more Southern League teams to write about (for now) and that's probably a good thing because I'm feeling some mild accomplishment that with this week's Chattanooga Lookouts cap, I have now written about eight of the ten teams in the league!
I mentioned earlier that the Southern League features ten teams which to me is a good number for a Double-A league. By contrast, there are eight teams in the Texas League while the Eastern League has twelve which could easily be pared down to ten if the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies would move their affiliates over to the Texas League. That change would make sense geographically as well.
I love the symmetry of that move but I also think that a ten-team league provides a more intimate experience and it also reminds me of how my hometown team, the Norfolk Tides, played in the International League which during the height of my MILB obsession featured eight teams. That number increased to ten for a few years and is sadly now up to 14.
I know my complaining isn't here isn't going to accomplish anything but I'm just glad to be able to get these thoughts out and hopefully they find their way to like-minded folks!
This week's cap is a size 7 1/2 which fits me fine but as I've mentioned before, I'm not a big fan of caps with red crowns so this one will be going on the Trading Block so please don't hesitate to reach out if you want this or any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
Ah, the parent team embroidered on the back of the cap. I remember thinking that was a cool part of my Prince Williams Cannon cap when I was a youngster in the sense that it was like getting two cap logos for the price of one! Nowadays it's a liability for me as it means I can't fly under the radar while wearing the cap. |
