1933 Regina Nationals (Ebbets Field Flannels retro)

I've featured many Ebbets hats here over the years but this 1933 Regina Nationals retro cap is perfect for this week's Fresh Fitted Friday post because today's date is February 10 which means we celebrate National Umbrella Day as well as National Flannel Day, although I'm not sure if those holidays hold the same weight in Canada.

A common misconception many U.S. folks have is that it's gloomy in all parts of Canada so flannels and umbrellas are required no matter where you are however just 390mm of precipitation accumulates per year on average in Regina, Saskatchewan. Just for reference, that equals the amount of rain in Denver and less than what Salt Lake City gets in a year.

By contrast, the average temperature is considerably higher in those US cities than what is experienced in Regina so it's good to have a flannel hat there as well as here in NYC where it's still rather chilly, especially as Punxsutawney Phil determined this past Groundhog Day that we've got six more weeks of winter ahead.

The first initial in my name is "N" so it's no surprise this hat is one I'll be wearing around quite often. I do think using the "Nationals" moniker has been overused throughout the years but sometimes simple is best.

I think the color of the crown might be informing my opinion but this might be the most flannel-y cap that I have purchased from Ebbets Field Flannels. Something about that grey broadcloth is reminiscent of what one would wear on a dreary winter day in the Great White North.

A Made In U.S.A cap of a team that played in Canada is nice to see!

Based on previous release dates, we are most likely approaching a release date for a new set of ballcaps by Ebbets Field Flannels and I'm hoping for some interesting minor league caps that I will want to add to my collection. They went heavy on collegiate caps in 2022 which is great for some folks but I'm personally more likely to be drawn to minor league logos.

I was finally able to get my hands on the the Texas Rangers-era Denver Bears retro from Hat Club last year so now the one that's highest on my list is a 1989-92 Peninsula Pilots retro. After that, I'd like a 1983 Portland Beavers but a Jackson Mets or Utica Blue Sox cap would do just fine as well. No matter what happens, I'm looking forward to see what comes out!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
