Catalina Flying Fish "Leon" (by Clinker Aaron for The Clink Room)

I had to take last week off because the reentry hangover after the Labor Day holiday weekend and a planned trip to Cape Cod the following weekend ate away at any hope of writing. Nevertheless, I am now back recharged and looking forward to a New York Yankees series win over the Boston Red Sox who are visiting Yankee Stadium for the last time this season. I was in attendance for Juan Soto's walkoff hit in Game 1 which bodes well.

But instead of writing about a cap related to either of those teams, I am highlighting this Catalina Flying Fish cap that I picked up at theclinkroom.com in a recent "Fresh Colorway" drop of this now classic logo that made its debut in a preorder in 2020. I unfortunately slept on that release and have regretted it ever since until now!

Something about the uncomplicated nature of this design has resonated with me and I am sure the same is true for countless other fans of The Clink Room as it has been remixed a few times since that first release.

This hat meets a specific need for a former Bay Area guy like myself who loves nautical elements yet tends to normally shy away from anything related to Southern California. Even if I'm not ready to embrace that part of the state, this one has me reflecting on this most incredible past weekend in Cape Cod.

I like that they went with a kelly green undervisor here which is very old school.

I would have to check my other caps from The Clink Room to know for certain but it appears the embroidery on this "Clink Kong" logo is a bit more enlarged than the ones on my other caps from them. Either way, it's a great design!

This is my first hat designed by Clinker Aaron (@smartifice on Instagram) and I am looking to his future releases for The Clink Room as anything that's not too heavy with "L.A. vibes" would be an instant purchase on my end. Of course, getting the original release without "Catalina" embroidered on the side would have solved that problem but I am happy with this one!

And with the San Francisco Giants firmly out of any sort of playoff discussion, my mentality has shifted into pure "hater mode" as I am rooting for any team who can knock the Los Angeles Dodgers out of contention. Although from a pure sportsmanship view, perhaps this post can serve as a nod to Shohei Ohtani's historic season as he is on pace to be the first ever 50-50 player who as of now has 47 home runs and 48 stolen bases.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
