As we enter the penultimate weekend of the 2024 Major League Baseball season, the Milwaukee Brewers are the only team that has clinched its division which means the excitement will only ramp up as the other division and wild card results unfold. And as a beer lover, I appreciate the opportune timing of the start of Oktoberfest just after the Brewers clinching so I selected their cap from Hat Club's "Cereal Pack" for this week's post.
I love the flat batterman so much that I do not even mind the straight edges around its border! |
The grey undervisor and white sweatband are bound to get nasty over time but this a boisterously colored cap that is only getting a few wear opportunities per year. |
As a New Yorker, I am hyped up on the possibility of a Subway Series between the New York Mets and the New York Yankees but first and foremost I am a San Francisco Giants fan who wants the Los Angeles Dodgers to get sent home in the NLDS by whoever comes out on top in the matchup between the Brewers and their opponent in the NLWCS which will be the sixth seeded team in the National League at the close of the regular season.
While writing this post I was glancing through highlights of the day's already completed games rather than the now-historic game between the Dodgers and Miami Marlins in which Shohei Ohtani became the first ever MLB player with 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases. Even the hater in me wanted to witness Ohtani unlock this achievement but as an irony enthusiast, I am amused that I unintentionally happened to tune in mere moments after the fact.
In addition to Ohtani's 6-for-6 afternoon, the Dodgers' 20-4 win over the Marlins in that game clinched their 12th consecutive postseason berth and the first ever trip to the MLB playoffs for Ohtani in his first season with the team. I am currently not feeling overly optimistic that the Dodgers will perish in the NLDS so that is why I am hopeful that this week's hat brings some luck to the Brew Crew if they make it to that round.
At the very least, wearing this cap around is a good reminder that I need to make a pilgrimage to one of America's most legendary beer cities. I will have to do some research on what kind of craft beer offerings Milwaukee has but if I can't find any I'll be more than happy with the local flavors just as I was when I visited St. Louis earlier in the summer!
This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
