Eugene Emeralds (1970s logo in maroon “What If?”)

At the time of writing, the New York Mets and New York Yankees have both come away as NLDS and ALDS champions respectively and I could not be more excited about the increased possibility of my first Subway Series as a resident of New York!

The rest of the country is more likely to drool at the prospect of a World Series in which the Yankees face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers and even with that, the San Francisco Giants fan in me would be thrilled to watch the Dodgers lose on baseball's biggest stage. And my third best outcome would be for the San Diego Padres to have a chance to avenge their 1998 World Series loss against the Yankees but I'm holding out hope for the Mets as of now!

These scenarios all assume the Yankees come out on top in their ALCS matchup against either the Detroit Tigers or Cleveland Guardians but neither of these teams appear to be the pennant winners for this season in my estimation. Well, hopefully I did not just jinx the whole thing but if I did that only speaks to the power of juju in baseball!

Why, it was just exactly a week ago I was spending Rosh Hashanah at the home of a friend who is a Mets fan and coaxing our friend who is a Philadelphia Phillies fan to root for the Mets in their elimination game against the Milwaukee Brewers that night. As it happens, the Mets squeaked by the Brewers and then the Phillies in the NLDS so the 1970s Eugene Emeralds cap selected for week's Fresh Fitted Friday is a tribute to my forlorn Philly friend.

This week's post marks the fourth time I have written about a stunner by @djmach716 of the New Era shop in Buffalo, NY. Once again, my friend @yellowsub73 came through with a solid assist on a beautiful fantasy logo and colorway that by all rights, should have worn by the former Phillies farm club in the early 1970s.

The subtle black sweatband and grey undervisor are a welcome contrast to the embiggened embroidery on the crown but you have to remember, this is a unique cap that I would never expect to see out in the wild so I appreciate the loud and proud vibes.

A little baby blue on the MILB batterman here really ties things up nicely!

This post is rather timely as @yellowsub73 once again helped secure another batch of caps from the New Era flagship and am already thinking about opportunities to share photos of those caps with you. In the meantime, I recommend making a pilgrimage up that way if you can so you can enjoy this feeling just as I am!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. If you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
