Winston-Salem Spirits

Ok so before we get started here, I have something to admit: this week's edition of Fresh Fitted Friday features photos of a cap that isn't actually in my possession but it's one that I just had to share as the cap logo worn by the Winston-Salem Spirits from 1990 through 1995 is a Carolina League classic that evokes warm memories for me when I look at it.

As long as I've been into minor league baseball, there have been hats that piqued my interest yet never committed to buying. This Spirits hat is a great example of that because there were so many other logos that drew me in while this one was in its prime that it got lost in the mix but oh, how I pine for it now that I rarely see it for sale anywhere.

What's worse is I'm feeling a sort of double regret because I came across one that was too small a while back but the seller wanted $100 which I felt was too much to spend on one hat. I'm sure I would have appreciated this hat as much as four $25 hats but the reason I didn't pull the trigger is because I wouldn't allow my emotions to get the best of me.

At any rate, I'm glad snapped some shots of this little bird before I let it fly away, both for posterity as well as the off-chance that a company like Ebbets Field Flannels or Hat Club takes a crack at it. I really appreciate how they both have really good hit rates when it comes to retro caps so I hope that dream becomes reality someday.

Since I don't actually own this cap, there's no chance of it going on Trading Block but even if I did I still wouldn't let you get your grubby hands on it, regardless of that fact that it's too small for my noggin. Nevertheless, please don't hesitate to reach out if you want some other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the following hats:

Tier 1:
Burlington Astros, Burlington Braves, Denver Bears, Elmira Pioneers, Greenville Braves, Jacksonville Expos, Jackson Mets/Generals (Texas League), Oneonta Yankees, Peninsula Pilots, Utica Blue Sox (White Sox version) and the SF Giants hat from 2007 MLB All-Star Game.

Tier 2:
Albany-Colonie Yankees, Casper Ghosts, Charleston Rainbows, Clinton Giants, Everett Giants, New Haven Ravens, Shreveport Captains

As always, thanks for coming back to read about minor league baseball hats and please feel free to reach out via any of the following social sites:
