1980s Albuquerque Dukes

I'm not sure if this is a record or not but I realized just as I sat down to write this post that it's been exactly two months since I've written about a snapback. Now while that Yakima Bears cap had some serious age on it, this week's Albuquerque Dukes hat is even older.

As a San Francisco Giants fan, I'm typically opposed to showing any sort of enthusiasm toward the Los Angeles Dodgers and their affiliates but this Dukes cap is really great even though it's a red hat which I'm not into for obvious reasons. The team wore this cap from 1985 through their final season in Albuquerque which was in 2000.

Baseball card photography from the late 80's and early 90's leaves a lot to be desired––as does the photography in the early years of this blog as I'm well aware––so I am not sure which exact year they switched over to grey underbrims.

If you clicked on the link in the caption above you'll get to one of my first posts on this blog which was a double feature of the Denver Zephyrs and Albuquerque Dukes cap which was a fitted with a leather band so this snapback was likely an alternate/practice cap.

As hard as it is for me to admit to appreciating a Dodgers affiliate's cap I'd say Vero Beach and Great Falls Dodgers are their top logos from the 1990's that I just hate to love. Yakima Bears is pretty cool too so yeah, I guess that's like over half of their teams actually.

I suppose I should address the white elephant on the page and make some sort of statement regarding baseball commencing soon but I'd rather hold my tongue in case a snafu should arise however I'm sure would one come about regardless.

This quarrel between the owners and players stinks to high heaven. The rising number of Covid cases around the country combined with the lack of love and respect that the owners are showing to the game does not get me excited for baseball to come back.

Despite all of this I'm sure I'll be voraciously consuming as many games as possible once play resumes. As they say, "Treat em mean, keep em keen!"

It's been a while since I've put a cap on the Trading Block so I suppose it makes sense one from a former Dodgers affiliate (because I hate the Dodgers, you see) goes on there so please reach out if you want this or another cap from that list and are willing to part with something from my Wish List and/or one you think I might be interested in.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. I've got comments disabled here so if you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
