Richmond Flying Squirrels (Running Squirrel Fauxback)

I had a memorable family excursion to Atlanta last weekend, and the Kinship Road-trip tour continues this weekend in Richmond, Virginia. In case you're wondering, I still have not been to a Yankees game this season, which might be a record for me. All is well though, as last night was my first time at CarMax Park, which is the new home of the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

I loved every step I took in that ballpark, and I am looking forward to returning if the Squirrels are in town on my next visit. I figured “ no cap” would be more fitting to wear to a new ballpark than one of the fantastic fauxback hats issued by the team. Apologies for mentioning the Yankees again this week; however, I am a New Yorker, and Richmond was once their Triple-A home!

The team's mascot, Nutzy, is in the midst of a majestic and hurried sprint here, and the only thing that would make me love this cap even more is if the crown were black and the visor were red, but even still, this cap is incredible.

I've written about lots of Bengali Bangers lately, and I'm guessing that is where New Era likes to produce caps when its Chinese factory needs a reprieve. I'm not quite sure if I have a preference for a hat being made in either country, but I'd say ones made in Bangladesh might fit better overall.

So much red on this crown makes me think even a rail with the front two panels being white would be neat, but I certainly want to keep the red on the rear of the cap. And if you'd like to see a Richmond Flying Squirrels cap which is all black, I recommend checking out this post from almost ten years ago!

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.
