Oklahoma City Comets (Terry Heather/Tan)

The League Division Series stage of the MLB postseason begins tomorrow, but my excitement level is lukewarm at best. I have felt detached from this week's Wild Card series due to its inaccessibility as someone who does not subscribe to the league's streamer-du-jour service, which I am choosing not to name at this time, as next year we could have another villain.

Instead, I have been revisiting MILB highlights from this past season as well as the Triple-A National Championship Game between the Oklahoma City Comets, who were the champions of the 2026 Pacific Coast League, and the Rochester Red Wings, who claimed the title in the International League and were the topic of last week's Fresh Fitted Friday post.

As a staunch Giants fan, my resolve to detest anything Dodgers-adjacent is overshadowed by my respect for the Comets’ logo so I'm choosing to honor their victory in that single-game playoff match-up for this week's post.

Despite my attempts to hate on their entire organization, I have plans for a post featuring an on-field cap worn by the Tulsa Drillers, who are their Double-A team in the Texas League, and this week's focus is on their Triple-A team.

As much as it pains me to admit to loving this logo, the Retrofuturism of the logo's script transports me to the 1950s, which as it happens is when Oklahoma-native Mickey Mantle, whose nickname is the "Commerce Comet", was launching balls off his bat as a dominant force on the New York Yankees.

The light hue of the crown is a soothing partner to the grey undervisor.

I am a bit worried about getting this cap dirty, but if that happens it will just add character and grit, which is fitting as the team was named after "The Mick," who was as hard-nosed and scrappy as they came!

I hope my fellow Giants fans are not let down by me sharing a cap worn by a Dodgers affiliate this week but if so, I hope this prepares you for future disappointments as I have my eye on an Ontario Tower Buzzers cap and maybe another Comets cap for a future post! Until then, I hope this one is enough of a "mush" to get the Dodgers knocked out by the Braves in the NLDS.

This week's Fresh Fitted Friday selection is not going on the Trading Block however please don't hesitate to reach out if you want any other cap from that list and you are willing to part with any of the hats on my Wish List.

As always, thanks for coming back to read about baseball hat geekery. If you'd like to discuss a trade or simply just chat about hats, please feel free to connect via the following social sites:
